In this article, we will cover the following:

  • what are papillomas;
  • what is the reason for their formation.

  • Typical papillomas.

Papillomas are benign neoplasms that are localized to the skin, mucous membranes. The reason for their formation is the human papillomavirus (HPV) virus, which is transmitted in various ways. The appearance of the formations depends on the type of virus that caused them.

Transmission paths

human papillomavirus virus is transmitted through:

  • During sexual intercourse, including anal, oral genitals.
  • Family. The microorganism is able to be present on personal property, personal hygiene articles, infected towels. It penetrates easily through scratches, abrasions on the skin.
  • During labor from mother to child.

Possible self-matching if the virus is transferred from one area of the body to another, which usually occurs during shaving, hair removal.

The incubation period (the period from the entry of HPV into the body to the appearance of symptoms of pathology) is between several weeks and several years.

Papillomas of the body are most often seen in the case of illness, pregnancy, alcohol abuse, psycho-emotional stress, hypothermia, and accompanied by a decrease in immune protection. The frequency of these formations among men and women is the same.

Human papillomavirus

Human papillomavirus: types

Depending on the risk of skin oncology pathology, mucosal papillomaviruses belong to the following groups:

  • Low oncotic risk (HPV 3, 6, 11, 13, 32, 34, 72, 73, 40-44, 51, 61 types).
  • Medium oncotic risk (HPV types 52, 56, 58, 30, 35, 45).
  • High risk of malignant processes (HPV 50, 59, 16, 18, 64, 68, 70, 31, 33, 39 types).

Microorganisms with a low level of cancer risk cause benign growth of the skin, mucous membranes.

Types of papillomas

Simple

Simple papilloma

They are also called vulgar, normal. Such growth is often caused by HPV types 26-29, 77, 63, 41.

There is a tingling, burning sensation on any part of the body. Later, the growth of a spherical formation is observed, whose surface gradually becomes rough. First, the tumor has a tumor color, then darkens. The size of the papilloma on the body is from 1 mm to cm

The neoplasms are single, multiple. In the latter case, the daughter's small papillomas are located around the mother, formed first, usually the largest.

Its localization is the back of the hands, fingers, the spaces between them, the chin area, the edges of the lips. Such papillomas are on the neck. The child's knees are affected, as babies often crawl, infected through small lesions on the skin.

Plantar

People with these formations are infected with HPV types 1, 2, 4. Tumors are similar to dry calluses, but have some characteristic differences.

Skin pattern is preserved on calls, absent on the surface of papillomas, the latter is smooth. The formation caused by the papillomavirus is painful, unpleasant sensations are reinforced while wearing squeezing shoes. Inside the papilloma, black dots are observed, which are absent in calluses.

Sometimes neoplasms self-destruct, which is more common in children. Sometimes small bubbles appear around the neoplasm. The latter turns into new papillomas over time.

Flat papillomas on the face

Flat papillomas

Growth of a round, elongated oval shape rises above the level of the skin 1–2 millimeters. Flat papillomas are localized around the mouth, on the face, and on the upper half of the body. Sometimes papillomas form on the neck.

Papilloma data are on the labia, cervix in girls, penis in men, in the rectum, near the anus. These formations are located in groups, merging with each other. Flesh-colored flat papillomas, sometimes slightly darker than the rest of the skin, are formed under the influence of 10, 49, 28 types of papillomavirus.

Thread

If people notice small papillomas appearing on the neck, then the growths are often thread-like. The second name of the configurations isacrochordus. 2, 7 types of HPV are caused by the latter.

At the initial stage, papillomas on the neck look like small yellowish seals, then the growths stretch, become rough, acquire a long, round, thread-like shape. A characteristic feature of a similar papilloma of the neck is a thin leg.

Acrochordus is more common in men, women over the age of 40. Growth also occurs on the skin of the upper eyelids, armpits, mammary glands, in the intimate area.

Mention

Papilloma of the penis

The formation data are calledwarts, which arecaused by types 6, 11, 44, 42, 54, 51, 55, 89 types of human papillomavirus virus in womenand men.

Condylomas are small, multiple-colored outbreaks of fleshy, localized to the female, male genital organs around the anus. There are papillomas in the vagina, labia minora, cervix. In men, condylomas are located on the foreskin, head of the penis, inside the urethra.

Sometimes separate elements combine, a tumor-like formation appears, externally like a rose comb, cauliflower. The neoplasms are characterized by very rapid growth, wide lesions can form in a few hours.

Pathology has a recurring course. It is more severe with concomitant sexual infections of the urogenital tract (eg, chlamydia, gonorrhea, mycoplasmosis).

Condylomas that form on the cervix, especially inside the cervical canal, are most dangerous during pregnancy. Hormonal changes stimulate rapid growth, followed by tissue breakdown, and secondary infections.

Papillomas in the mouth, larynx

Their appearance is associated with the activity of papillomaviruses 6, 7, 11, 72, 73, 57, 32 types. The formations are round or thin round formations. The mucous membrane around them is pale pink, with no visible pathological changes. The surface of the growths is pale pink, white.

Neoplasms are single, multiple, painless when crushed. They are located at the base of the oral cavity, the back of the tongue, hard palate, the laryngeal mucosa, the size is between 2 mm and 2 cm.

Papilloma in the larynx

Overgrowth beats the mucous membrane of the mouth if it is bitten, it darkens as a result of bloodshed into it. The state of health does not deteriorate in the presence of such a disease, the oral cavity is opened freely.

When one adult is lying on the soft palate, the tonsils, in the glottis, there is a feeling of a foreign body, coughing, the voice becomes crooked. If the lesions become multiple, these symptoms worsen.

In children, pathological growth is often bilateral, the occurrence of which is accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty in inhalation, exhaling, arising after physical exercise, then rest.
  • Cough after running, playing too much.
  • Suffering attacks with stenosisof the larynx (pathological narrowing that prevents air from entering the lower respiratory tract).
The appearance of externally differentiated papillomas is associated with infection with different types of HPV. To remove neoplasms, you must consult a doctor. This should be done as soon as possible if there are multiple papillomas, a rapid increase in size, creating discomfort, and constant injury.
